On the top of a hill in Sagaing, one can enjoy a view of the Ayeyarwaddy River with the Mandalay and Inwa pagodas rising mistily on the far banks. The 14th century Po Win Taung Caves of Monywa and the Monyin Thanbodday Pago complex of Monywa are decorated with figures of mythical beings, fantastic creatures and joyful celestials. Taking an hour boat trip to Mingun is a pleasant ride. You may get to see the Ayeyarwaddy dolphins along the way.

Mandalay has a tropical and cool weather all year round. Pyin Oo Lwin (formerly known as Maymyo) is one and a half hour’s drive from Mandalay. Flowers, strawberries and even coffee beans are grown here.
